“Emptying The Skies” – Movie Poster

About This Project

Based on a New Yorker article by Jonathan Franzen, this feature-length independent documentary depicted the illegal poaching of migratory songbirds, and a small group dedicated to protecting them. My concept for the poster was a simple graphic approach that showed a bird with cutouts to represent a hand in a way that was intentionally ambiguous, i.e., one couldn’t tell whether the bird was being threatened or saved.
